Iman Psychotherapy

Our approach & method

Our approach to therapy involves deeply exploring anxiety. We view anxiety not as an obstacle but as a natural part of ourselves that drives us towards personal growth and self-discovery. It arises from our innate desire to connect with the world around us and is fueled by our aspirations and care for others. Cultural conditioning can shape this drive and lead us to attach ourselves to conventional notions of happiness and success. Such attachments, while fulfilling in some ways, may also limit our potential.

Our practice recognizes anxiety as a signal that invites us to explore and transcend our limitations. Anxiety prompts a journey of self-exploration, urging us to confront the complexities of our desires and the roles we play within our cultural frameworks. This journey does not require us to sever ties with what we cherish, but to understand our attachments in a way that frees us to pursue a more authentic and fulfilling existence. We help clients through this journey by adopting an integrative approach that weaves together different therapeutic techniques (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or mindfulness practices) tailored to each individual's needs for cultivating adaptive coping mechanisms, thereby facilitating a deeper engagement with life's challenges and opportunities for growth.

At the heart of our therapeutic philosophy is the cultivation of a robust therapeutic relationship. We strive to create an environment where you feel understood, valued, and empowered to explore. This exploratory process aims to foster resilience, enhance self-awareness, and ultimately empower you to embrace life in all its complexity. You are an active participant in the journey towards self-actualization, not a passive recipient of care.

Our ultimate goal is to guide clients towards a state of being where they can acknowledge and navigate their anxieties as avenues for growth, rather than obstacles to happiness. Throughout the journey towards this goal, we offer our support, expertise, and compassion to help you unlock your true potential and live resonantly with your deepest values and aspirations.

Step-by-step guideline

1. Initial consultation:
We offer a free 15-minute consultation, where we can talk about why you're considering therapy, how we work, what it costs, and what to expect.

2. Charting a plan:
In our first proper session, which lasts about 60 minutes, we'll dive deep into your situation. We'll set clear goals for your therapy and create a plan just for you, including how often we'll meet.

3. Working towards your goals:
After the first session, each meeting will be around 55 minutes long. We'll focus on helping you reach the goals we set together.

4. Staying the course:
As we near the end of your therapy, we'll work on a plan together to help you maintain your progress and avoid going backward.
